MFL

Our aim at Barcroft Primary School is to provide all of our children with an education in Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) that develops their love of learning other languages and about their cultures. At Barcroft our current MFL taught is French. Our intention is to ensure that by the end of our children’s primary education, they have acquired an understanding of both spoken and written French, confidence to speak in French with others and know how important other languages can be in their future. We will do this through 30-40-minute weekly lessons in Key Stage 2, which follow a progression of oracy, vocabulary development (speaking and listening), constructing sentences and written work.  In Key Stage 1 pupils will be exposed to French vocabulary throughout the year to prepare them for their French lesson in KS2.
