Our Achievements

At Barcroft Primary School we love to celebrate the achievements of our pupils both in and out of school.

Silver Games Mark

Barcroft Primary has achieved the Silver School Games Mark award for our commitment, engagement and delivery of competitive school sport in 2018/19.

Barcroft Primary French Fashion Show

During Spring term, KS2 children at Barcroft thoroughly enjoyed performing a fashion show in French to their parents. They spent 45 minutes each week practising vocabulary and partaking in dress rehearsals. The feedback was fabulous and both children and parents enjoyed it! We will be looking at other extra-curricular French activities for Autumn term.

On Thursday 14th March, 6 pupils from Year 5 took part in the Battle of the Brains competition at Grace Academy, Darlaston. The pressure was on to retain the big, shiny trophy as we had been the winners in 2018!

Seven schools took part this year- the largest competition so far in the 5 years of its existence.

The first activity was a team building exercise and our children worked well together to gain a few points. Then it was time for the individual rounds, so the children went off to take part in specialist subject quizzes and challenges. The children who represented the school were: Simran, Myles, Romario, Yuvraj, Shaswar and Harvey. Our pupils did incredibly well, with many of them winning their category. The final event was a beat-the-buzzer quiz, where the team tried to gain points but were a little distracted by the sweets in the centre of their table! Mrs Johl stepped in during the teacher round to win another point with her answer 'Humpty Dumpty'!

Grace Academy did an excellent job of hosting the event, keeping us entertained in between rounds and moving procedings on in a fun way. They proved themselves to be a slick team and a positive, forward-thinking school.

Butterflies were fluttering as the final scores were announced- and Barcroft were the winners for the second year running! The Year 5 team had done it! Now, Mrs Nash is ready to win a hat trick, and is already scouting the talent in the current Year 4!

Congratulations to the children who took part, and thank you to the parents and staff who came to support them.

We would like to thank all children and parents for the fantastic effort for this year’s world book day celebration. The children had a wonderful day and enjoyed showing off their fantastic costumes during our Barcroft Big Read assembly. This has been the most successful world book day in recent years with almost every child taking part in dressing up. We managed to raise a fantastic £294 for the official world book day charity. The object of the Charity is to advance the education of the public, particularly by assisting in the promotion of reading among children and young people.

On Thursday 12th July three of our year 6 children were chosen to represent Barcroft Primary in the times tables Rock Wrangle competition. Kyle, David and Gaurav were up against 153 children from other schools. Gaurav came first, David came 3rd and Kyle was in the top 16. The boys won a hellicopter ride over the country side. What an amazing achievement , well done boys!

The start of May 8 of our Yr 3 & 4 sports children took part in a Tennis competition held at Willenhall E’Act competing against Bentley West and Beacon Primary school. The children were split into two teams of four and played 8 mini matches against the other schools. We won 7 out of 8 games and came 1st!

On Thursday 15th March, Year 5 children competed in the Battle of the Brains competition at Grace Academy. The children did a superb job and were crowned 2018 Battle of the Brains Champions!

Parent Puzzle Maths Workshop

After School on Tuesday 27th March 2018 we held a Maths puzzle workshop which was a great success. Within the programme, the children initially demonstrated to their parents what they had learned during the day and talked about how they were going to use it to improve their skills in the future. The programme then opened out into a wonderful hands-on challenge with puzzles that the families solved together. It was is a wonderful opportunity for our Barfroft parents to get involved with fun and exciting maths their child.

Some Comments from the parents include:

"Excellent, it was great to work together with my child."

"Brilliant, absolutley loved it - especially how it got the children and parents brains working."

"Really great session, had so much fun working with children and other families."
