Barcroft Primary School

Unlocking potential today for a brighter tomorrow

Pastoral Care

At Barcroft Primary School we aim to provide the highest quality pastoral support throughout the school.  We work in partnership with children and families to offer support educationally, socially and emotionally.

Our Pastoral Support team is made up of our Assistant Headteachers (Mrs Edwards and Miss Phillips) and Learning Mentor (Mr Cross).

Meet our Pastoral Team

At Barcroft Primary School we recognise that pupils with low confidence, social skills and low self-esteem can often demonstrate challenging behaviours. The reasons for these behaviours can be varied but one or more of these factors may contribute to them having difficulty in accessing the curriculum. As a result, we have invested in the creation of a nurture programme dedicated to helping identified pupils to receive additional support to over-come these barriers.

Through our nurture programme, we aim for pupils’ anxieties and personal fears to be alleviated. We hope to provide students with the skills necessary for them to express their feelings and engage with their emotions in a healthy manner. As our pupils come to discover ways to manage and cope with their emotional and behavioural difficulties, they will be able to access the curriculum and work towards achieving their potential.

Take a look at our sweet-themed nurture room: 'Barcroft Sweets'...

We are passionate about being at the heart of our community to support families in as many ways as we can so we are happy to announce that Barcroft now has a food bank located at school.  We are working in partnership with our local Morrisons to be able to provide toiletries, sanitary items none perishable foods so that 'no child goes hungry.'  This is in addition to Black Country Food Vouchers that can be allocated in times of need.  The cost of living crisis has been widely publicised and circumstances for every family are different so this is a non-judgemental and confidential offer of support for if or when you need it.   If you feel that you are able to donate to our food bank then there will be a drop off point in our front office and we will be getting our children involved in this community project to support our Barcroft family- we will keep you posted on this!

Please speak to Mrs Edwards, Miss Phillips or any member of our school team if you need any more information.
