Spring Term
In Spring term, our topic is 'Ancient Greece'. Children delve into the world of Greece from 776 BC-146BC. We start off with our 'WOW' day, where children are asked to dress up as ancient Greeks, which is always a fun day.
In our curriculum lessons, children put their sewing skills to the test when they are asked to design and make a Greek headdress in Design and technology. In Art, we practise our sketching skills, sketching mythological creatures, and Greek columns. In History, we explore what life was like back in Ancient Greece, including how the lives of men and women were different, and compare the differences between those living in Sparta and those living in Athens. Finally, in Geography, we delve into the Greek climate and explore the differences between Greece and England.
In our PSHE lessons this term, we focus on 'me and my relationships', where we explore different relationships to the those around us, such as who trusted adults are, who are family are, and who are friends are. We show respect to each other, and have open discussions about different experiences people might have.
In Science, we move onto our 'Light and Shadow' topic. This is always a fun topic, because we get to complete science experiments that involve observing how shadows move and change throughout the day.
In Computing, we are looking at branching databases. We discuss what open and closed questions are, and begin to create our own databases.
